According to this so-so Wikipedia article, EDGE comes in 2 classes. The second, class 4, actually has a theoretically higher DTR (~470 kbaud) than standard 3G (~380 kbaud). Even the slower 2G DTR (~270 kbaud) is not that much slower by the numbers. I wonder which EDGE standard the iPhone will have.

What are folks' experiences with EDGE?

Hopefully Class 4, haha. No matter though, I am sure it will get the job done.

I had no idea what EDGE was at all until it was announced with the iPhone.

I await a detailed specsheet from Apple, I don't know when that will come.

It's a terrible shame that Apple tries to hype up the iPhone so much but hasn't even released information about specific specifications such as its edge standard. Let's hope that is good, and that it is better than their choice in wireless carriers. What do you all think about that?
