    Hi,

I use my ipod in the car all the time, with an FM transmitter to send the sound to the stereo without any ugly cables. Is there an equivalent FM transmitter for the iPhone?

    in-line FM transmitter

While there is no in-line FM transmitter that is tailor-made for the iPhone (yet) this website offers advice to set your car up for the iPhone (with FM transmitter options for cars with a line-in/aux-in port on its stereo):

I find that those with the fm transmittor that doesn't connect to the cigarette lighter don't work too well. I have always used my belkin ipod connector that plugs into my cigarette lighter and has a base so there's no cords and it put the iphone/ipod straight up so you aren't looking down to change the song or anything like that.
