So after a long week of trying to figure out why my screen wouldn't come on when using the sleep\awake button and spending a lot of money on parts and replacing almost every part inside my phone I just traded it in on a 3gs unlocked, jailbroken and working perfectly. Well I used it 2 times on my way home and plugged it into my computer and itunes said it needed updated, so me thinking nothing but oh it just needs updated from being in the stores case waiting to be bought, I update it and itunes didn't detect my sim card which was an i wireless\ cinti bell sim card in an originally atnt phone, so it said to put in a sim card to activate it. Well of course now I realize I had relocked the phone to atnt, so the phone store had some atnt sim cards but the phone won't activate with any of them either. I have been thru hell just trying to have an iphone that works and its like something just doesn't want me to have one. I just need to know how I can get past the activate phone screen and then the rest I can get done.
well I guess the newest that itunes would have my itunes had also just updated also before I plugged it in and it said it needed updated. And no I personally don't know how to unlock it but the phone store where I got it does, they just can't get past that activation screen.
So 5.0.1? The store can't get past the activation screen? I'm a bit confused. The iOS would be really significant, as iOS 4.x requires something different to activate it then iOs 5.x.
sorry, it was iOS4 and I updated it to iOS5 and it didnt detect my cin bell sim card that was in it at the time and itunes instructed me to insert my sim card and reboot the phone but it it still didnt detect it after I took it out and put it back in so I unplugged it from the computer and tried rebooting again and it would not do anything except give me an activation screen. So I took it to the store and they tried using an atnt sim card to activate it and the sim cards he had wouldn't activate it. He was attemptimg to restore it but told me he wasnt having any luck with that, I don't know what process he was using to restore it though. I figured just plug it back into itunes, reboot it with the atnt sim card in it and reinstall the update but I dont really know much about it so, as far as I know hes trying still to get it activated and then he can unlock it.
any suggestions as to how I can activate this phone? I am so frustrated with this iphone mess. I wonder now if it was even an atnt phone since it will not activate it with an atnt sim card. Is there any way to find out who the carrier was?
